Five Outfits to Help You Success at Your Summer Internship

It’s internship season! Given the long days and early mornings of corporate life, look office-ready when you’re pressed for time can be a job in itself. What do you wear when joggers and a crochet tank don’t pass for effort? To help you get through the summer corporate grind, I’ve put together five outfits that will make it that much easier to slay the week ahead.

Bingo, It’s Monday

To combat Monday-morning weariness, I’d like to sneak professional pieces into my corporate wardrobe. Mixing the Bella + Canvas Flowy V-Neck Cropped T-Shirt with your corporate staples instantly makes it look office-appropriate. If the lingering smell of croissants and eggs doesn’t help you feel less score about the start of another week, switching up your American Apparel Interlock Pencil Skirt and pumps for brightly-colored alternatives is a great way to start the week. And a well-made blazer like this black one will last you through all your internships and into your first job.

The Swing of Tuesday

By the time I get dressed on Tuesday morning, I’ve fully accepted that I need to put on a proper blouse and get through the week. An Edwards Garment Ladies Batiste Banded Collar Shirt, pairing with a midi skirt, will become as ingrained into your daily grind as your morning coffee.

Wednesday: The Midweek Slump

Though Wednesday is a good reminder that the weekend is in sight, I usually save my sleekest outfit for the midweek slump. I choose the pink Sierra Pacific Ladies’ Sleeveless Cotton Twill because it is a fantastic way to elevate an all-black ensemble. But the black strapped trousers, lace up shoes and clutch are all essential to complete the outfit.

Thursday: Almost There

Thursday is almost the end of the week, and even though Friday is on the way, there’s still much to celebrate! This Alternative Ladies’ Nautical Tank Dress is almost neck-in-neck with midi skirts for my favorite corporate essential. I’ve also come to love statement necklaces, because they’re probably the easiest thing to clasp around your neck when you’re running late. When paired with this versatile pair of flats, you’ll be out the door and running to the subway station in ten minutes.

Thank God Lord, It’s Finally Friday

I love Friday because they’re an excuse to wear jeans to the office. While a boxy relaxed-fit tee might skirt the dress code slightly, a Van Heusen Ladies’ Gingham Check Shirt and light blue accents are a great way to welcome the weekend. As a rule of thumb, dark-wash jeans are dressier than light ones, so go for simple skinny jeans like this one that you’d wear on campus. If you’d like to emphasize the casual in “Casual Friday”, cut off your jeans and show lots of ankle with a pair of versatile pointy-toe pumps. Finish this look with a classic Sisley Phyto red lipstick and royal bag.
