| Quality of Outback Hats has fallen |

For many years, Port Authority's Outback Hats have given me that protection. I have been buying them six at a time. When I am not wearing my Outback Hat, I fold it flat and stick it into a pocket or under my belt. When my Outback Hat gets sweaty, I toss it into the washing machine, and dryer too.
My guide for disposing of an old hat has been to try to see through the crown. If no light comes through, I keep wearing the hat. If I start to see light filtering through the crown, it's time to toss that hat and start wearing a new one.
With my latest purchase of six Outback Hats, I can see light through the crowns of all six, before wearing any of them! I compared the six new Outback Hats with the one Outback Hat leftover from my previous order, and there is a big difference. All six of the new Outback Hats meet my criterion for tossing an old hat!
My fix is to ask my wife to sew part of an old T-shirt into the crown of each new Outback Hat. That seems to be working, though I'd rather have Port Authority go back to making Outback Hats the way it used to. |
