It’s officially October, which means we’re about to start seeing lots of pink everywhere. In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month(NBCAM), many companies and designers develop products and donate a portion of sales to breast cancer research. Our store NyFifth.com pinpoints some pink products to pick up your spirits by supporting a good cause. After all, if there’s a choice between two items, why not choose one that could help others?

Needless to say, this Dyenomite Awareness Ribbon T-Shirt is the best representative in favor of NBCAM for it is printed with bright pink ribbon on the bottom right corner, increasing awareness of the disease. As a wife or a mother, women play an important role in our life, extremely worthy of being cared and loved. Therefore wearing pink color items this October, you are free to choose from these items such as Jerzees 50/50 Cotton/Poly Adult Long-Sleeve T-Shirt or Anvil Classic Fit Ladies’ Pique Sport Shirt, either shows your love for great women.

All around the world this month, there will be events taking place to raise awareness and funding for breast cancer. One of the biggest events of the year is the Annual Think Pink Motorcycle run, held each October. This is a Police Escorted Ride that will include activities the entire family can enjoy. This is the major annual fundraiser with many opportunities for the community to both give and receive. Not only does this event bring in the funds we need to help local women and their families, it also raises awareness for this awful disease which is so crucial in the fight to end cancer. All of the funds raised through this event go toward helping breast cancer patients and their families.

No matter how you raise awareness this October, the most important thing is that you spread the word about how important it is that women get their mammograms and perform self-examinations often. Early detection is always best. NBCAM.org lists these symptoms as possible signs that you could have breast cancer and need to be checked by a doctor:

  • Any new, hard lump or thickening in any part of the breast
  • Change in breast size or shape
  • Dimpling or puckering of the skin
  • Swelling, redness or warmth that does not go away
  • Pain in one spot that does not vary with your monthly cycle
  • Pulling in of the nipple
  • Nipple discharge that starts suddenly and appears only in one breast
  • An itchy, sore, or scaling area on one nipple
